Thanks again Tyler!

Thanks to Tyler we have more adorable pictures of our Mila Monster...

                                                    She has recently discovered noses.

                                                                     Murphy family

                                                                           So cute!
                                                               I LOVE this picture!

I think maybe she will be a yogi!? Her two favorite positions are downward dog and the plank!

Milan has 6 teeth and her favorite word is baa baa baa baa baa. She also loves to gurgle her spit.  She loves grandma Crockett and every night wines for her until she comes to play. Its really cute when I see her wining for someone else. She is crawling just a little. She takes one or two steps then collapses onto her belly. She loves to stand. Her favorite game to play is when someone lays on the floor with her, she pulls herself up and then lets go with one hand. She gets so excited and cracks herself up when she does it. She is a total foodie. I can not keep up with her. She will eat anything that is put in front of her. She smacks her lips and moans every time she eats. Ha Ha Ha. So dang cute.

It is time for some updating of our lives.  Which I will be doing when I have a moment to catch my breath.

More about Milana

Milana's personality is really coming out these days. I think she is going to be a wild, crazy, talkative, stubborn, stubborn, stubborn, give me a run for my money kind of a girl.

The other night it took me about 2 hours to put her to sleep. She just did not want to go down. She wasn't crying or anything, she was just all swaddled up, sucking on her binki, staring at me while I bounced her on the ball. Then is was like she decided she was ready and burrowed her little head in my arm and was out in 2 minutes.

She has absolutely no interest in crawling yet, but she loves to stand up. I put her in front our ottoman, with toys on it and she will stand and play for as long as her legs will hold out. When ever she is fussy and I can't figure out what she wants, I just stand her up and it usually does the trick.

She now hates to lay down since she has discovered sitting up. For the most part, I love that she is sitting. Except for when she breast feeds. She thinks that she doesn't have to lay down to do that anymore. She really wants to stand while she eats, but she is way too tall and I just don't stretch like that. Ha Ha, so we compromise, and I help her sit on my lap (we sit belly to belly) and she eats. It is pretty funny and soooooo adorable!

Lots of babies do cute things while they breast feed, like playing with moms hair or elbow etc. but Milana scratches! She scratches like crazy. I usually always have little scabs all over my chest from her scratch fests. It relaxes her though, so I just let her do it. Its hard in the middle of the night though, when I just want to sleep while she is eating, and her little fingers are ripping my skip apart. It doesn't matter how often I cut her nails, she always gets me. She is such a character.

She is cutting her two top teeth right now and these ones are really getting to her. She hardly seemed to notice the bottom two. The tooth on the left has about a 2 week advantage over the right tooth, so she might be our little county bumpkin for a while before they are both in and evened out. Ha Ha

Traveling is really hard on her. We were in Utah for a quick family reunion a few weeks ago. A trip that should have taken us 5 hours to get home, took us 10!!! It was so awful. We stopped in Cedar, St. George and Mesquite. She just was not having it. So we are still home bodies for the most part. It is too hard for me to go somewhere when its just the two of us, I just keep saying that we will have our whole live to get out and do things.

Mila LOVES cell phones. She gets so excited when ever she sees one. She love talking to Grandma Crockett on the phone. She gets so excited and she talks and squeals and giggles. She also loves to send texts. Ha Ha Ha. Dave just hands her the phone and lets her type away, then he sends it.  Lap tops are also a favorite. Dave things we need to get an i pad for her. But I know its all for him!

I don't even like croc's, but when they are that small and pink, I love them!

                                                              6 months going on 16!

I can not get enough of her laugh

I can't get enough. Her laugh is contagious! We love her so much! Oh the last minute or so of filming, Dave did a der (his words not mine) so once the screen goes black, the movie is over.

Wake up

Waking up is getting easier for her to do. She used to wake up screaming, and so fussy, no we are seeing more and more of these sweet smiles when she wakes. Morning is still my favorite. She is so happy and she always has crazy baby bed hair. She will lay in bed in the morning for about a half hour and talk to her self and watch the ceiling fan.

Finally

We finally got Mila's newborn pictures! Our photographer told us she would have them to us in 2-3 weeks, but it took her over 3 months. We will not be using her services ever again, but she did get some cute shots. Milana cried the entire time we were there, and pooped all over her back drops that were on the floor (maybe that is why she took so long to get our pictures back to us ha ha), so considering how hard she was to photograph, I would say she did a pretty good job!

This is my absolute favorite ! My aunt Debbie made the beanie, and Dave's aunt Cercee made the bracelet. Perfect accessories. I'm going to have to get a big picture made of this one.

4 months

Mila is 4 months old now and things are really coming along. She and I went to the grocery store together for the first time since she's been born! That is a major accomplishment around here. Dave usually goes by himself, or we all go because she hates to sit in her car seat, so one of us needs to hold her while the other pushes the cart. Towards the end of the trip, she started to fuss, so I carried her AND pushed. Don't worry, it was on a crazy Friday at Costco when every one just got paid, and they are all there to eat a lunch worth of free samples. My favorite thing is the people who stand there waiting for the next batch of frozen burritos to be done, with their cart taking up half the isle, creating a total traffic jam. Pushing a gigantic Costco cart with one arm weaving in and out of cart traffic is no small feat! But we survived! And that is really something.

Sleep is still her worst enemy, but her cute face seems to make the sleep deprivation less annoying. We almost made it through all three hours of church! Again, another major accomplishment. We haven't done that since she's been  born either. Usually we leave because she gets so tired and won't sleep unless we are bouncing her on the workout ball, listening to the vacuum recording. Today we left because she crapped all over me in Relief Society. Now I have a huge poopy mustard stain on my favorite white skirt. Bummer! But I am happy we didn't have to leave because she was screaming.  We don't do much as far as getting out since her demands to be put to sleep are too unrealistic to do in public. The "driving around, let the car seat put the baby to sleep trick" doesn't work for us, so we'll just be homebodies till she settles down. Hopefully that will be soon cause there is lots I want to do while we are in Vegas!

Poor thing is teething! Just when her colic really started to subside, she has to deal with cutting teeth. She has been a real trooper. I've heard pretty bad stories, but she has been pretty ok. They are really cute and small right now, but I bet in another week or so she will have her little pumpkin head smile.

She is really talking a lot. She loves to sit in her chair and talk and squeal and scream as loud and as high pitched  as she can. She cracks us up. She loves to hear her own voice and she will "talk" back and forth with us as though she is having an adult conversation.

I freakin love that little adorable girl!

summa summa summa time

I love summer! We took Mila for her first swim. She wasn't quite sure what to think, but she will come around. I'm sure I get this from my mom, but I believe a good mom is one who takes her kids swimming every day in the summer time, so she is gonna have to get used to the water and fast! One advantage to living in an apartment is not having to pay for a pool pass. We've got 2 great pools 30 seconds away.   I love that little hat!!!

                                                    so chill and relaxed

2 Master's

Dave Graduated! I am so proud of him. He worked his butt of this past year and now has a Master's in Medical Health Sciences. He said to me the other day, " Now I have 2 Master's, You and this one from school!" What a smart A@&!!! Ha Ha. Dave's parents came down to celebrate with us, unfortunately they could not stay very long, but it was great to see them and have their support.  While we still don't know what our future holds, this year has been great to help Dave prepare for med school. Good job Boo! Thanks for working so hard to take care of us!

Friends from school, Graham and Brian.

                                                  So proud of my man!

What she thinks of Touro. he he

Brian and Dave's engagement picture. Ha Ha

Class started with about 30 students, about half graduated

Graduation present form me. Dave has been wanting this forever

A little behind the times

I'm a little behind the times, but I finally had my first Ebay purchase! Ha Ha Ha I have been looking for a cute, practical, quality diaper bag for a while now and I finally bought one on Ebay. Diaper bags are freakin expensive! Especially the cute ones. I've been looking at stores and checking sales and started looking on line for something and randomly ended up on Ebay. I found a ton of really good bags. I had about 10 that I wanted to bid on, but narrowed it down to 2 Petunia Pickle Bottom bags. I showed them to Dave and told him I wanted either one, including shipping for under $50. He did his research on the bags and what they were going for on Ebay and said, " I PROMISE you will NOT get them for that amount." I  still wanted to try because I believe in a good deal! Long story short I got one of the bags for $40 with free shipping!!! Yahoo. Its just what I wanted and so cute! Now I love Ebay!

Totally fake

I have been wanting to get eyelash extensions for a long time. Before we moved here I looked at prices in SLC, I couldn't find anything for under $100. They are around $200 her in Vegas, cause every one wants to look like a show girl? Anyway, my sister got hers done for her wedding and I was totally jealous. She pulled some strings and got me a sweet deal (it was her old young woman's leader who did them). She only charged me for the price of the lashes...10 BUCKS! yahoo! I choose one of the longest lengths she had, which she calls "porn star lashes" but I don't think they are that ridiculous. I was feeling frumpy-housewife-ish so I figured some extra long lashes would at least help me look as though I'm not about to fall asleep any second, or would keep me from looking like death on the days when a shower is impossible. I love them! I wish they weren't so dang expensive here, cause I could get addicted to them.  Best thing is they don't even look fake since each lash is attached to an existing lash.

Milana's first massage

Mila got her first massage today. She LOVED it. She laid just like this for about 15 minutes without a peep. She looked like a statue, just breathing really heavy, totally relaxed.

I've started working on some of her meridians to help calm her down and help her sleep better. She is still running on 2 or 3 20 min naps a day. Its exhausting for me and I know it has to be frustrating for her because she is always tired, she just can't sleep. I'm also trying to help her lymph flow better.

Dave is studying like crazy to get ready for his last block of the year. His last test in on Thursday, then graduation on Sunday. They we wait and pray that he gets in this year. If not he will be applying all over again. We will most likely just stay here in Vegas till he gets accepted, but I really think he will get in this year.

I should have posted these a few weeks ago when they happened, but I'm lucky I even get to post anything these days.

I've mentioned this before, but she loves Sesame Street!

She rolled over a few weeks ago for the first time! We just happened to catch it on camera.

Just this week she has started taking a binki! Hallelujah!!! It really seems to help calm her. She has also started reaching/grabbing/holding things. We love our little poppy!

Mother's Day

I love Mother's Day! Dave spoiled me as usual with clothes (work out clothes cause that is the clothes I will buy right now) delicious french toast breakfast (seriously Dave makes THE best french toast!!), yummy dinner and my favorite, a nap! He he he. He also make this adorable "movie trailer" he is so technologically creative. I love my little family! Its fun being a mom, and it keeps getting funner as she feels better and better. Thanks mom for all you do for me and for all you have taught me over the years.
I love you! Happy Mother's Day!

Mila's first giggle

Dave started blowing Mila in the face with a ball pump. She loved it. We have done it several times since and we get no response. I'm so glad we caught this on video. The only other time she ever giggles is watching Sesame Street, and occasionally when she is tickled. I love little baby laughs!

Milana hit her 3 month mark 2 days ago. The crying and colic is definitely getting better. She is still fussy at night, but its so much better then it used to be, I can't complain. We weighed her on our scale the other day and she 16 lbs! She is so chubby and adorable. She is wearing 6 month clothing and sometimes even  9 months depending on the brand. She is always in the 97th percentile at every doctor visit, and I don't see her dropping in rank any time soon. She is so aware and loves to stand up on our laps. She drools like crazy! I wonder if teeth will be coming in soon? She has really started to love Dave (finally!!!! YAHOO!) and now she demands that he put her to sleep at night. She will fuss and fuss and fuss when I hold her and bounce her, (she loves to be bounced on a work out ball, we even took it with us to Az for my sisters wedding because it is the only way she will go to sleep now. Celtic music is out) but as soon as she is in Dave's arms she is out in about 5 minutes. Its really cute to see that she loves him and that sometimes she has a preference as to who holds her.

Sesame Street to the Rescue!

Milana loves Sesame Street! I noticed lately that she stares at the tv whenever it is on, so I just thought I would give it a try. To my surprise, she zoned right in. It is so cute. She sits in her little chair and coo's and kicks her legs and flaps her arms around and talks back to the tv. Cookie Monster is her favorite! Ha Ha. She really lights up when He is on. She hates when there aren't any muppets on the screen. She starts to fuss when its real people only on screen, so I stay close by and fast forward to all the muppet parts. Its so nice to have something to entertain her, even if its only for about 20 minutes. It gives my arms, my ears and her  lungs a nice rest! I never thought I would be putting her in front of the tv at such a young age, but  the little breaks make me a better mom, so thank goodness for Sesame Street! BTW, its just as cute as I remember!

twins?

                                           David                               Milana

I think they look sooooo much a like! I guess if they couldn't be twins, they settled for father and daughter!  She does all the same facial expressions as Dave. Lots of eyebrow movements, even the one- eyebrow-up-thing that he does. Its too funny! Crazy that those traits can be passed down. I would have thought that would be more of a learned thing.

little sweetie

Tyler and Amanda stopped by for a quick visit on their way home from Disney Land. Tyler whipped out his awesome camera and got some great shots of Milana. As her was taking them, I asked if he would take some of her in her blessing dress. Good thing I did because we didn't take a single picture that day! not one! We prayed so hard that that she would be well behaved during her blessing and she was. She did great! As soon as the blessing was over, she was crying. She cried all day! We should have been praying she would feel ok for the day, not just the blessing. Oh well.  I spent most of the day in our bedroom with her. She really has a hard time with new voices and loud noises. The blessing was awesome! She is such a little sweetie. I wrote the blessing down. I don't remember much right now, just a few lines stand out in my head, That she will bring others to Christ with her smile, is one in particular.

Some of the photos Tyler took. Thanks Tyler!

                                             Her tongue is always out!

The lip! She is going to get anything she wants
                                          from us with that face

I love love love this picture!

waking up ritual

It takes Mila a good while to wake all the way...

"River Dance" Pros

2 Months today and I think we are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel with Milana's Colic. Things were pretty bad there for a while. I remember one day in particular, where she slept for 3 hours during the night and took a 3 hour nap later that day, and that was it! 6 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period. The other 18 hours were spent crying! There were probably 4-5 weeks spent like that, and now, gradually things are getting better and better. The last 2 nights she has gone to sleep with out crying at all!!!!

We have tried everything under the sun to help her feel better from gripe water, tummy massages, amber necklaces, foot zoning, essential oils, adjustments (although they have not been consistent and very frequent, I've been thinking about seeing someone more often) Ibuprofin, pro-biotics,  emotional releases, etc. Her pediatrician suggested putting rice cereal in her milk, which we have yet to try. He didn't want to put her on any medications, because eventually it will go away on its own...so we just keep praying that she will feel better so she can enjoy he new life and for my sanity! During the "bad weeks" she would scream every night without fail from 9pm to 12am-3am. We would just hold her and do everything we could think of to calm her down.

At first she liked the sound of running water, and I would fall asleep with her on the couch with the water running for several hours. That only lasted for about a week. Then we moved onto the vacuum. She loves the sound of a running vacuum. We ran it so much we blew out the motor! Ha Ha! Luckily just 2 days before it broke, Dave recorded it on his computer and put it on the I pod. It just loops over and over for a half hour. I've also fallen asleep with her to the vacuum blaring. I would often bounce her around to music. One night I had my massage mix playing, which is mostly all calm soothing music, but not necessarily all Enya. I preferred the songs with words and a beat. It passed the time for me and it gave me a beat to bounce her to.

Eventually a Celtic River Dance song came on. So I started bouncing her to the beat, almost instantly she calmed down and fell asleep. We laughed about it, but figured she was just finally tired enough to sleep. Next day I am bouncing her again, so I decided to go right for the Celtic. I cranked it up and bounced to the beat. She was out before the song was over. Ha Ha Ha. So Dave made us a Celtic mix, and we use it every time now. Works like a charm! It relaxes her and always puts her to sleep. I think its the fast beat that she likes, because it keeps me consistently bouncing her and the same steady, fast pace. He favorites are the River Dance songs. They are the fastest. (and least annoying) So now we are River Dancing every night. It gets me sweating its such a good work out (Try dancing for a half our to a fast beat carrying a 14 lbs weight) For some reason listening to that music makes you dance like them! I start making up my own "River" moves, with pointed toes, quick feet and Irish skipping (whatever that means) Ha Ha Ha. We crack each other up  every night with our new "moves". The music is so fast, that Dave makes the funniest concentrating face, because he literally has to think about his next step so he does't trip. Ha Ha Ha. Oh the things we do! Funny thing is, her hair is turning Red. With the last name of Murphy, we should have known we'd get a little Irish baby!

Check out our dancing...He He He
